Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to improve students' awareness of radiation by investigating the level of awareness for students of health-related department on the risk of radiation and to help them in effective policy establishment.

Methods: Subjects are 237 first-grade students of health-related department who surveyed from June 1t o June 30, 2020.

Results: As a result of the question of the examination part most likely to receive radiation exposure during radiation examination, MRI examination 27.0%, general X-ray examination, CT examination each 19.8%, angiography examination 17.3%, fluoroscopic examination, ultrasound examination each 8.0% appeared in order. As a result of examining the degree of radiation knowledge, the average of the total score was 76.86 points.
The higher the radiation knowledge, the higher the radiation risk, and the higher the degree of awareness of radiation knowledge, the lower the radiation risk and policy awareness. In addition, the higher the level of anxiety during the radiographic examination, the higher the fear of radiation hazards, and the higher the level of radiation risk and anxiety, the higher the degree of awareness of radiation-related policies.

Conclusions: In order to raise the awareness of radiation of college students, a proper education is needed and continuously managed. Through this, the basis for efficient use of radiation must be established.
